FAQ page

Frequently asked questions for myrepeater.net and common repeater issues.

This page groups common questions into access, IP, speed, security, and reset topics so users can move faster to the answer they need.

Access and login

Why does myrepeater.net not open?

The setup page usually fails when the device is connected to the wrong network, cellular data remains active, HTTPS is forced, cached DNS results are stale, or firewall, VPN, and browser behavior interferes with local routing.

What is the default username and password?

Many white-label devices in this ecosystem use admin and admin during initial setup.

IP and network

Which IP address should I try if the domain fails?

192.168.10.1 is common, but some models use 192.168.1.253, 192.168.1.254, 192.168.16.1, 192.168.11.1, or another private IP depending on the chipset and firmware family.

Why does the old repeater IP stop working after setup?

Once setup is complete, the repeater may stop using the default gateway and take a new IP from the main router's DHCP pool.

Speed and performance

Why is the repeated Wi-Fi slower?

Standard single-radio repeaters commonly cut throughput because they receive and retransmit the same traffic over the same wireless path.

What setup usually performs better?

Access Point mode with Ethernet backhaul is often better because it avoids the usual repeating overhead.

Security

Why should I change the default password?

Leaving the default login in place can expose the admin panel to anyone who gains access to the extended network.

Should I trust every website claiming to help with myrepeater.net?

No. Public spoofed support pages and misleading setup domains can appear in search results, so users should avoid suspicious remote-support prompts and scam pages.

Reset and recovery

When should I factory reset the repeater?

Reset it when access fails repeatedly, the firmware appears stuck, or the original setup state needs to be restored.

How long should the reset button be held?

These devices commonly require about 8 to 15 seconds of continuous pressure while powered on.
