The NETGEAR EX3110 AC750 Dual Band WiFi Range Extender is a compact wall-plug extender that boosts the coverage of your existing WiFi network with dual-band speeds up to 750 Mbps, helping eliminate dead zones and providing more reliable connectivity throughout your home or office.
Quick 3-Step Checklist
- Restart: Unplug the EX3110, wait 15 seconds, and plug it back in.
- Reconnect: Ensure your phone, laptop, or PC is connected to the extender’s WiFi (NETGEAR_EXT or the extended SSID) before opening the setup page.
- Verify router internet: Connect directly to your router’s WiFi and confirm that the internet works there first.
EX3110 AC750 WiFi Range Extender Overview
- WiFi performance: AC750 dual-band WiFi, extending both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands with combined speeds up to 750 Mbps, suitable for HD streaming and general browsing.
- WiFi technology: Supports IEEE 802.11ac, 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n, working with most standard WiFi routers and gateways.
- Form factor: Compact wall-plug design with status LEDs and internal antennas, designed to sit directly in a power socket without extra cables. (Note: This model is fully wireless and does not feature an Ethernet port).
- Use case: Eliminates dead zones by boosting existing WiFi range, acting as a dual-band repeater for smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, and other WiFi devices.
How to Set Up NETGEAR EX3110 via WPS
Use WPS if your router supports it for a quick, button-based setup of the EX3110.
Step 1: Place and Power On
- Plug the EX3110 into a wall outlet in the same room as your WiFi router for initial setup.
- Wait until the Power LED on the extender turns solid green, indicating it is on and ready.
- If the Power LED stays off, press the Power/On-Off button on the extender.
Step 2: Press WPS on the EX3110
- Press the WPS button on the EX3110 until the WPS LED starts blinking.
- The blinking WPS LED means the extender is in pairing mode.
Step 3: Press WPS on Your Router
- Within two minutes of pressing WPS on the extender, press the WPS button on your router or access point.
- Wait for up to two minutes while they establish a secure connection.
- When the connection succeeds, the Router Link LED and WPS LED on the EX3110 will turn solid (usually green), indicating a good link to your router’s WiFi.
Step 4: Move the EX3110 to the Ideal Spot
- Think of the EX3110 as a relay runner: it needs a strong signal from the router so it can pass that signal further out.
- Unplug the extender and move it to a location roughly halfway between your router and the area with weak WiFi.
- Plug it back in and check the Signal/Link LED:
- Green: Good connection to the router.
- Amber: Fair connection; acceptable but could be improved.
- Red/off: Poor connection—move the extender closer to the router.
Step 5: Connect Your Devices
- After WPS setup, the EX3110 creates extended networks, usually with your router’s SSID plus _EXT appended.
- Use the same WiFi password as the router unless you changed it during setup.
- Connect phones, laptops, smart TVs, and other devices to the extended SSID and test coverage in the previously weak area.
How to Set Up NETGEAR EX3110 via Browser (mywifiext) – Manual Setup
Manual setup through a browser is recommended if WPS is unavailable or you want complete control over your network names and passwords.
Step 1: Plug In and Connect to NETGEAR_EXT
- Plug the EX3110 into a wall outlet near your router and wait for the Power LED to become solid.
- On your computer or mobile device, open WiFi settings and connect to the extender’s default network, typically named NETGEAR_EXT.
- Do not connect to any other WiFi network while configuring the extender.
Step 2: Open the Setup Page
- Open a web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc.).
- In the address bar, type http://mywifiext.net and press Enter.
- If that does not load, type 192.168.1.250 in the address bar and press Enter, or use http://mywifiext.local if supported.
Reality Check: If the setup page does not appear, check that your device is still connected to NETGEAR_EXT and that you entered the URL directly in the browser's address bar, not a search field.
Step 3: Log In and Start New Extender Setup
- When the NETGEAR Genie / setup wizard opens, click NEW EXTENDER SETUP.
- Create a NETGEAR account or log in if prompted.
- For admin login, use the default credentials unless changed:
- Username: admin
- Password: password
- You may be asked to change the default admin password and set security questions—complete these steps for security.
Step 4: Choose “WiFi Range Extender” Mode
- Select WiFi Range Extender when asked how you want to use the EX3110. (Note: Because the EX3110 lacks an Ethernet port, it cannot be used in Access Point mode).
Step 5: Connect to Your Router’s WiFi
- The setup wizard scans for nearby WiFi networks and lists available SSIDs.
- Select your home router’s SSID for the 2.4 GHz band and, if available, the 5 GHz band.
- Enter your router’s WiFi password exactly (case-sensitive) to allow the extender to join your main network.
Step 6: Configure Extended SSID and Password
- Choose whether to keep the default extended SSID (router SSID + _EXT) or set a custom name (for example, YourNetwork_EXT).
- Set a strong password for the extended network; you may use the same password as your router for convenience.
- Click Next or Apply to save settings; the extender may reboot while applying configuration.
Step 7: Move to Final Location and Test Coverage
- Unplug the EX3110 and move it to a location about halfway between your router and the area with weak WiFi coverage.
- Plug it back in and wait until the Power and Link LEDs indicate a stable connection.
- Reconnect your devices to the extended SSID and test browsing or streaming in the previously weak area.
Smart Roaming and WiFi Name Options
- Matching SSID (One WiFi Name): You can set the EX3110 to use the same WiFi name and password as your router for more seamless roaming. Devices can move between router and extender more smoothly without manual switching.
- Separate _EXT SSID: Keeping an extended SSID with _EXT lets you specifically choose which devices connect to the extender (for example, smart TVs, consoles, or streaming boxes) while other devices stay on the router.
Quick Fix Checklist
- Restart both router and EX3110.
- Verify the router’s WiFi has active internet.
- Make sure your device is connected to the extender’s SSID before visiting mywifiext.net.
- Try WPS setup first; if it fails or is unsupported, use the browser-based setup wizard.
- If problems persist, perform a factory reset and set up the extender again from scratch.
Placement Tips for Best Performance
- Plug the EX3110 into an open outlet, not behind furniture or inside cabinets.
- Aim for a location where the extender’s Signal/Link LED is green, indicating a strong connection to the router.
- Keep the extender away from microwaves, baby monitors, cordless phones, large mirrors, metal cabinets, fridges, and thick concrete or brick walls.
